We come across a lot of artists who have experienced music sharing fatigue

Most often artists wonder why free music sharing has not worked for them. They are asking themselves why it has not helped their music careers.

We come across a lot of artists who have experienced music sharing fatigue. They have given their music for free and their music is being played in various places by many people without any tangible benefit to them. It is of course frustrating and stressful for them because they have worked hard, they have produced what they believe is good music and they have shared the same music on various music sharing platforms without any tangible benefit.

Free music sharing should not be looked at in isolation, after you share your music there should be a follow-up plan. This plan should translate into feedback, fan base and revenue opportunities. It should be able to help you generate income from your music.

The end goal of sharing your music should not be to go viral, if that does happen, then all good, but at least when you share your music for free build a fan base and create brand awareness. By sharing your music for free you are making an investment on them and similarly they are doing the same to you in a form of a download. You do that by offering a gift in exchange for their loyalty and if they like your offering, they will stay and demand more music from you, which is a good position to be in. This way you will be able to invite them and have some of them attend your events. Some will even buy or stream your music in paid platforms.
